Poly B pipe replacement in Gloucester
Blackburn Hamlet, Beacon Hill, Pineview, Emerald Woods, Hunt Club — and the rest of Gloucester. If the house went up before about 1998 and nobody has repiped it, the grey pipe is worth finding before your insurer finds it first.
Why Gloucester in particular
Blackburn Hamlet, Beacon Hill, Pineview and Emerald Woods were largely built out from the late 1960s through the 1980s, so Gloucester homes sit on the early edge of the Poly B era. The oldest houses here may have copper; the ones from the late 1970s onward are the ones to check, along with anything with a basement apartment added in the 1980s.
Hunt Club and the Riverside area skew newer and are more likely to hold Kitec than Poly B. Either way the replacement work and the insurance conversation are effectively the same, and the contractors we refer to handle both.
What a Gloucester repipe usually involves
New PEX from the main shut-off to every fixture, the old grey lines removed or abandoned, everything reconnected and pressure tested, a city plumbing inspection while the pipe is still visible, and then the drywall. Two to three days of plumbing for a bungalow with an open basement; four to six for a larger two-storey. Drywall, primer and paint follow, often the next week.

Before you book anything
- Confirm what you actually have. Grey and flexible with a crimped copper ring is Poly B. Orange and blue with brass fittings is Kitec, which is a different conversation with the same ending.
- Email your insurance broker and ask, in writing, whether the policy limits water-damage coverage because of the supply piping and what changes if you replace it.
- Get the scope described in writing, and check whether drywall repair is in or out of the price.
Contractors we refer to in Gloucester
Companies that hold an Ontario plumbing licence, carry liability and WSIB coverage, take whole-home repiping as regular work rather than as a favour between service calls, and call homeowners back the same day. We send your details to one of them — whichever suits your house and timeline — and they pay us for the introduction, not you. The full disclosure.
